ABOUT US

THE GREENS

This is our family, and this is our farm.
We live a quiet life in the Country.
A simple life in which hard work is rewarded

and you reap what you sow.

We strive to live a healthy lifestyle,
to teach our children the importance
of proper nutrition and knowing

where our food comes from.

We are not perfect and polished.

Half the time we are covered in mud,

wearing muck boots, and overalls

but we are a real family with real values.

We hope you enjoy following along with our story.

SO WHAT'S THE REAL STORY?

Our farm started out as a journey to feed our family more nutritious foods.
We wanted to know that we were giving our children the best start to life by providing them with proper nutrition and plenty of time spent outdoors. Sounds easy, right?

Well spending time outdoors is easy but finding nutritious foods not so much. Unfortunately hidden behind the store bought "All Natural" brands that we relied on so heavily for healthy food, we found added growth hormones and food additives that we just weren't comfortable feeding our family. We realized that we had no idea what our family was eating and whether we could even find products up to our standard of quality.

We quickly realized that the only way we would truly know what we were feeding our family, was to grow it ourselves. We started small with chickens in a small coop with a run in the backyard and a garden that was able to provide us with fresh fruits and vegetables all summer. The next year we progressing to canning some of the food to enjoy over the winter months and we continued to grow as much as our small backyard allowed. We wanted to know what we were eating. We wanted to become more self-sufficient. And as we started to consider how we could become more self-sufficient, plans to start a farm were born.

Fast forward a few years, after the death of a very beloved family member we purchased his home along with 99 acres and started to plan the farm. We took his business name known to locals as Valray Nurseries and repurposed it as our own, Valray Farm. A name chosen to represent the memory of our loved ones and
also the beautiful property that our farm is located on, right along the line of Valley Twp.
and Rayburn Twp. in Armstrong County.

We are proud to say that our products are truly ALL NATURAL. They are free of added hormones and food additives. We choose to raise our livestock (i.e., chicken, turkey, and pigs) out on pastures where they are able to realize their true personalities and graze on unlimited pasture grass. This give our products a quality that is not only higher than our local competition but also healthier and more nutritious. Our pork is leaner and more marbleized. Our poultry is higher in vitamins and minerals because they forage for some of their food. Our eggs are richer and higher in vitamin D and E. We are a farm that cares about providing you will wholesome, healthy food.
